- HINGE ADJUSTMENT: Although Sofia cabinets are shipped ready for installation, there might be a need to readjust the hinges on your cabinet. For single door adjustment: To adjust the door up or down, you will need to loosen the plates that secure the hinges to the side-wall of the cabinet. After both plates are loose and slide up and down. Grasp the top plate and slide to the center and secure. Lift the door slightly upward to decrease the weight of the door and slide the plate upward and secure tightly. Check to see that door is opening and closing smoothly. Be sure that the door opposite the hinge is resting on the gasket evenly. To adjust this, open the door and notice a large screw closest to the back wall on the hinge. Turn this screw clockwise to bring the door closer to the gasket (be sure there is always a slight space between door and gasket). The next adjustment would be left to right. While the door is open, please notice a screw that is visible when the door is open approximately 80* degrees. This screw will adjust the door left to right. For double or triple door cabinets, the same procedure will apply. Please pay close attention to not allow mirrors to touch each other, THEY WILL BREAK!
- SHELF ADJUSTMENT: The shelves are factory spaced evenly, but if you wish to adjust them simply follow these guidelines. At the center of the shelf bracket on each side of your medicine cabinet you will see a screw that secures it to the sidewall of the cabinet. Remove this screw on each bracket. You can now slide the entire assembly, glass and all to your desired height. Keep in mind that the bracket may be stiff, so do not be afraid to exert a decent amount of pressure. You will not break the glass shelf, it is 3/8″ thick. Once in position, reinstall the screw in each shelf bracket. You have now completed the adjustment of your shelf.
- MAGNIFYING MIRROR INSTALLATION: The magnifying mirror is shipped in the box with the cabinet. After the installation of your cabinet is complete you can then install the mag mirror. Determine where you would like the mirror (we recommend on the door between the first and second shelves). Clean the area well with alcohol and wipe dry for proper adhesion. Remove the protective film and carefully place the mirror min. one inch from the outer edge, making sure it is between the shelves. This is pressure sensitive tape, so be sure to press and hold firmly for 10 seconds.
- HORIZONTAL LIGHT BAR (RECESS): Once your cabinet is installed, unpack the light-bar and carefully remove the rings holding the light bar mirror in place. Place the mirror in a safe location and do not reverse the direction that it was removed. You will notice the light has a 3/8” tab, open the door of the cabinet and place this spacer on top of the cabinet (it should touch) You will notice a wiring access hole and two mounting holes. Place the light bar and mark these holes. When cable is through you can screw the light to the wall. Complete the wiring and carefully place the light mirror the same direction that you removed it. Screw the rings back on and slightly adjust to the door (do not overtighten the rings).
- GFCI INSTALLATION (RECESS): The GFCI unit will be located at the base of the cabinet opposite the hinge. Remove the housing and you will see an electrical access hole. Place the cabinet in the rough opening you have provided and mark the hole for drilling. Remove the cabinet taking special care not to place the cabinet on a hard surface that can damage the mirrors. Drill the hole for the cable and place the cabinet back in opening while pulling the cable through the hole. Install the cabinet and complete the wiring and reinstall the GFCI unit.
- GFCI INSTALLATION (SURFACE): When installing a GFCI on a surface cabinet, you must install a standard electrical box above the cabinet. Install the cabinet normally and then proceed to bring your wires down the side of the cabinet. Remove the GFCI box and you will notice an entry hole for the electrical cable. Insert the cable through the hole, make the electrical connection, and place the cable between the tracks. Included with your mounting kit you will find six plates, take the first plate and snap in place over the cable, first at bottom, then in center, and lastly at the top. When the plates are secure you can repeat the process on the opposite side. You can now remove the tape covering and exposing double-sided tape. Install the side mirrors, carefully aligning top to bottom and back to front. Remember this is pressure sensitive tape, so apply pressure where the plates are to assure proper adhesion.
- CABINET INSTALLATION (RECESS): When installing a standard cabinet, please create the rough opening as specified on that model specification sheet. When all wall prep work is complete (sheet rock/tiles) insert the cabinet in the opening, hold the cabinet in place at the top and open door. You will notice holes that are available in the track. Remove caps (plastic squares at top and bottom on side wall) and insert screws in holes (not supplied), and do not overtighten (there is a risk of bowing out the cabinet). Repeat on both sides and replace the caps. Depending on the plumbness of the wall, you may have to readjust the door.
- CABINET INSTALLATION (SEMI-RECESS): Prepare wall opening as per provided cabinet specifications. Semi-recess mirrored sides come pre-installed on the cabinet.
- CABINET INSTALLATION (SURFACE): In the Mirror Side Kit that was supplied with the cabinet, you will find 2-side mirrors, 6- plates, 1, 2 or three “Z” bars, 2- top mounting brackets and the screws to mount the z bars. You will also find depending on the cabinet size, 2 or three top mounting brackets. Determine the placement of your cabinet in reference to your vanity or sink. Determine the height and mark a level line where the “Z” bar or bars will be installed. Note: you must secure these items well THEY WILL BE CARRYING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR CABINET! Once you have secured the “Z” bars in place you are ready to place the cabinet on the wall, before you continue insert the top brackets into the opening at top. (You will notice that at the top, the track has been expanded to accept the mounting brackets).Lift cabinet flat to the wall above the “Z” bar and allow it to slide down until it locks in place. Make sure the bar is placed in the track at bottom of cabinet. While holding the cabinet in place flat to the wall have a step stool or ladder to access the top of the cabinet. Locate studs and slide the bracket in place and secure firmly, repeat with second bracket. When the cabinet is secure, you can now install the side plates one on top and bottom, and one in the middle of cabinet, (the plates are secured by snapping in place) Remove the protective film from the double-sided tape wipe the back of the mirror and carefully secure in place. Repeat on opposite side. Your installation is complete!
- UNPACKING YOUR CABINET: Your cabinet has been very carefully packed, so please take care to unpack it as instructed. First determine the front of the cabinet, place it on it’s back and peel the bottom flaps to expose the cabinet. You will see a stop sign that tells you to inspect the cabinet before installing. If there is any noticeable damage, please contact your place of purchase. If it has been determined that all is as it should be then proceeded. Leave the box intact and remove the cabinet. Perform all of the mounting preparations to your wall before you remove the cabinet. If you are recessing the cabinet just remove it from the box and place in the rough opening “it is not necessary to remove the corner protectors until you are ready to install the cabinet.

- Never use glass cleaners that contain AMMONIA or VINEGAR. These are harsh chemicals that can damage the silver backing of your mirror causing the edges to blacken.
- To clean the mirrors, we suggest a mild soap and water solution. Alternatively, we also recommend ZEP from concentrate, the ammonia free version for use on mirrors. Please note to never spray directly on the glass but first on your cloth or towel before applying. Be sure to dry all surfaces when finishes.
- DO NOT handle mirrors if you have chemicals on your hands. Nail polish remover, silicones, and any chemical cleansers that are used to clean tiles, should be avoided at all times. Thank you.
